CURRICULUM

Christian Education is a lifelong process of nurturing faith and building a personal relationship with God. Sunday School provides an opportunity for children to know God, to know God's love, and to experience joy in God's teachings, laying a foundation for each child's Christian life.

Providing youth with an integrated program of teaching, discussion, memorization and worship involvement will help them transition from Sunday School, through Confirmation classes, to participation as an adult member of the Congregation.

At Zumbro Lutheran, Christian Education is centered in the Old and New Testament Scriptures and in the Christian Faith as it is expressed and understood through the Lutheran Church. The curriculum is a planned sequence of learning opportunities, which build from year to year with consideration for the developmental stages of the child at each particular age.

Preschool-4th Grades

For Preschool-4th Grades, we use Augsburg Fortress' Witness curriculum. The lessons are based on Bible Stories with focuses on faith traits. The youth bring home a flier each week with the day's scripture and lesson in it. This Lutheran series is on a two-year cycle so that the Bible stories and lessons go further indepth as our youth get older.

5th-8th Grades

For 5th-8th Grades, we use Standard Publishing's curriculum. The lessons take current topics and issues and relate them to the Bible and faithful daily living. The youth bring home a flier which supports the life focus of each lesson.
