I Corinthians 6:19 “Don’t you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God?”

Interest in cardiovascular health, stress management and healthy exercise were identified as topics of interest in a recent survey of Zumbro members.  Putting all three of these interests together, the Health Ministry Cabinet is encouraging each person to participate in the “Prayerful Walking” program from May – September.  The goals will be:  Nourish faith by walking in the Spirit;  Improve physical health as well as spiritual health by walking in prayer. 

You may have favorite Scriptures and prayers that you currently use. The following are Scriptures/prayers and prayer focuses for additional ideas as you walk and pray.

Week of May 4 - 10

 Romans 12:6a

  “We have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us.”

Prayer:  Thank you Lord for the many talents, abilities and strengths You have given each of us.  We pray for wisdom and discernment for the whole church to work together, using our individual “gifts” to spread the Gospel and serve You.

Prayer focus:  Congregational Councils/ those in leadership

Week of May 11 – 17

Zechariah: 8:21

  “Come, let us go to entreat the favor of the Lord, and to seek the Lord of hosts;”

Prayer:  Lord, count me in!  I want to be “going” today, too – going to find you and receive your healing touch for my life and for others too.  I thank you for all the people who have touched me in the past with the power of your healing words.  Remind me to do the same today.

Prayer focus:  those who need a caring friend today

Week of May 18 – 24

Genesis 1:27

   “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.”

Prayer:  Heavenly Father, as I walk and enjoy your creation, help me appreciate that I am part of your continuing creation.

Prayer focus:  May I think, live and act in a way that reflects God’s image through me

Week of May 25 - 31

Psalm 25:4-5

   “Show me your ways, O Lord, teach me your paths; guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.”

Prayer:  Gracious Heavenly Father, thank you for your guidance today as I walk your path.  Bless all who are beginning a new path in their lives.  Give them strength for their journey.

Prayer focus:  Zumbro congregation, people beginning new jobs or in new locations.
