Confronting Religious Violence in the World Today

Pastor Vern leads a five-week study on Rabbi Jonathan Sack’s insightful book, Not In God’s Name: Confronting Religious Violence. The book is based on stories from the book of Genesis. It tackles the phenomenon of religious extremism and violence committed in the name of God. Rabbi Sacks argues that religiously inspired violence has at its source a misreading of Genesis texts at the heart of all three Abrahamic faiths: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Those texts include the stories of Isaac and Ishmael, Jacob wrestling with the angel, Joseph and his brothers, and more.
