Islam, Christianity, and the War on Terror
“The twenty-first century will be the century of Islam.” So says Akbar Ahmed. How much do you really know about this fast-growing religion? How concerned are you about what you hear in the news? This February Pastor Vern taught a class entitled "Islam, Christianity and the War on Terror." He will be teaching another session on this topic in May 2011. We will do a basic overview of Islam, including the history, beliefs, and customs of the religion. We will look deeper into the tradition of jihad and explore some of the reasons for the rise of Islamic fundamentalism. Whenever possible, we will compare and contrast the teachings of the Koran with the teachings of the Bible.
