Welcome to Zumbro Lutheran Church. Part of our mission at Zumbro is to "share the hope of Jesus". Faith Formation (formerly known as Sunday School) for children and youth is an exciting, fast-paced, engaging hour that is all about sharing stories that teach us about our great God and our lives of faith.

Faith formation feels more like Vacation Bible School (VBS) than traditional Sunday School. The excitement and engagement of kids at VBS each year is palpable. Our faith formation experience is modeled after VBS–energetic large group openings with music, skits, and storytelling; and small group rotations through crafts, games, and interactive Bible lessons.

Wednesday mirrors Sunday. Everything that we offer for children in the nursery through grade six is offered for families on Sundays from 9:45-10:45am and Wednesdays from 6:45-7:45pm. Families can choose which time works best for their schedule, knowing that the same quality education will be offered both days. Confirmation (grades 7-9) will continue to be offered on Wednesday evenings only.

It’s all about The Big Idea. Every week we focus on one Biblical story in worship and in faith formation. Why are we doing this? We are bombarded with more and more information in our world. It’s overwhelming! This can be the case in the church, too. Each week we explore one story from all different angles so that kids and parents will have something to take home with them (and hopefully even talk about!). In the process, God works through the stories to help us grow and be transformed. Each Big Idea is 1 week. 1 story. 1 message.

Faith formation happens at home. No matter how excellent a program we offer at Zumbro, we know that parents are the primary faith teachers. Faith becomes real when it is practiced at home. Our goal is to give you tools to help you have meaningful faith conversations in your own homes.

Our journey of faith leads us to build bridges of understanding and peace, to reach out with compassion, and to share the hope of Jesus.
