Handbells

Praises Ring Handbell Choir

This beginning handbell choir is offered for children in grades 4 and 5 and is under the direction of Kristy Giere. Rehearsals are Mondays in the sanctuary from 5:30-6:10 p.m. No past musical training is required – this is a great opportunity to learn the basics of music and have fun, too! Ringers learn to play both handbells and handchimes and play for worship 4-5 times a year.

Fellowship of the Ring

Middle School youth along with parents are welcome to participate in this handbell opportunity on Tuesdays from 6:15-6:55 p.m. in the sanctuary. Paul Bye directs the group and is assisted by Kristy Giere. Fellowship of the Ring provide music for worship 4-5 times a year.

Bel Canto Handbell Choir

Adults comprise this choir of intermediate to experienced bell players and are under the direction of Kristy Giere. Rehearsals are Monday evenings from 7:00-8:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. Bel Canto provides music for worship one Sunday a month, as well as participates in the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols each December at St. Marys Hospital Chapel. Besides preparing handbell arrangements for prelude and offertories, the ensemble assists with hymn accompaniments.

Bazaar Bells

Adult bell players gather for rehearsals in late November and early December to perform at the annual Zumbro Bazaar the first Friday in December and also offer holiday bell music during a coffee hour on a December Sunday morning between services. Kristy Giere directs the group.

Instrumental Ensembles


Zumbro Brass Ensemble

The Zumbro Brass Ensemble is comprised of experienced brass players and play for worship throughout the year, as well as Christmas, Easter, Reformation, Pentecost and special hymn festival Sundays. The Brass Ensemble also participates in the annual Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols each December at St. Marys Hospital Chapel. Matt Hafar and Chris Gade are the leaders. Rehearsals are scheduled as needed.

Zumbro Youth Orchestra

The Zumbro Youth Orchestra offers the opportunity for youth and high school musicians to play as an ensemble 3-4 times a year in worship. The ensemble is open to all string musicians as well as woodwind and brass players. Kristy Giere directs the orchestra and rehearsals are scheduled two weeks before the group plays in worship.

Zumbro Worship Song Leaders

Open to youth and adult singers that possess strong vocal abilities and wish to share their solo vocal leadership in worship by leading the psalms, hymn stanzas, and portions of the liturgy, including Holden Evening Prayer and Now the Feast and Celebration by Marty Haugen. Zumbro Liturgical Dancers

We offer liturgical dance opportunities of different styles of dance for youth involvement in worship. Participants need not be experienced dancers. The group performs in worship as scheduled and also participates in the annual Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols at St. Marys Hospital Chapel in December. Directors are Dawn Lenz and Kirsten Schowalter, assisted by George and Karen Jensen.
